Staining and Discoloration

Darkly stained teeth can generally be improved with whitening/bleaching treatments. White or brown spots on teeth need to be evaluated to determine the cause of discoloration, and may require more advance procedures like microabrasion or resin infiltration. The following videos demonstrate two of the many products and techniques that can be used to treat discolorations: Individual discolored teeth are often not improved by whitening/bleaching, and are in fact made worse by whitening as this lightens surrounding teeth, further accentuating color discrepancies. The root cause of individual tooth discoloration must first be determined by your dentist, but often times bonding or placement of a veneer to mask the individual tooth is needed.
